Milon Townsend and Ryan Higgins combine their
ideas and techniques to produce the collaborative series of
Tidal Pool Paperweights. They have been working
together since 1998, when Higgins was a student, instructed
by Townsend. Together they produce paperweights using
the technique of flamworking borosilicate glass. This process
of heating rods, tubes and sheets of glass in a highly specific
torch flame allow the artisit to include an extraordinary
level of detail, drawing the eye of the viewer into the piece.
